Built in the 1950’s as a Wool Store, Steampacket house is in a prime Geelong waterfront location within the Deakin University precinct.
As part of the conversion of the building to modern professional offices, Select Architects have been engaged on a variety of projects from the rehabilitation of an existing façade to a full rework of the elevations and the addition of residential floors.
Select Architects & Planners created the new spaces which conformed with Council’s Public Realm / Urban Context vision for the area, as well as the retention of the Heritage aspects of the overall building.
The project required new shop front entrances for the façade awnings to define entrances, reviewing and adjusting car park layout along with the justification of any shortfall applied for the new uses. As well as engaging with the Council Stakeholders including Planning, Urban Designers and Engineers, Select
Architects co-ordinated Civil & Structural Engineers on the building changes and the design of the driveway extension.
Our latest project is to upgrade vehicle access to the underground car park via the adjoining lane and create new office or retail spaces in the former loading docks and vehicle access.
