Located in the outer suburb of Werribee, the clients sought a home with sophistication and character of traditional Japan whilst experiencing the relaxed Australian lifestyle.
The rear of the site has the advantage of views over grazing land to the north east, gaining substantial solar exposure. Rooms have been orientated to reap the benefits of this solar exposure, creating bright rooms which are easy to heat and cool.
As well as using environmentally sustainable materials throughout the architectural design, traditional Japanese Shoji screens are used to link or separate living areas. A Shoji screen opens the spacious lounge room to the kitchen and another links to the dual purpose entry hall for additional entertaining space.
